Beginning in 2017, Nebraska Folklife has launched an ongoing fieldwork survey to identify and support traditional artists and other types of culture bearers and examples of folklife in Nebraska. We’ve been using Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) as a geographic base, an attempt to draw connections between the landscape and cultural expressions in Nebraska.

  • Bob Shaffner, Saddlemaker

    Bob Shaffner, cowboy/rancher/saddlemaker from Minatare, NE, is the owner of Brazonorte Saddle Shop where he makes custom saddles.

  • David LaBounty, Clockmaker

    LaBounty created an online apprenticeship program called Clock Class. He prides himself on making new parts, instead of fixing them.
